Hi there! I’m Samantha Keel, AKA Aunt Scripty.
I’m an actively-working 911 paramedic and critical care paramedic. I’ve spent the last 10 years working in EMS, spending thousands of hours in the field, in ERs, and in ICUs. I’m certified as a flight medic. I’m even taking a physician-level fellowship in resuscitation–the first paramedic ever to do so. (Here’s how you can help!)
But EMS isn’t my only passion. I’ve been writing stories since I learned to hold a pencil. Growing up an editor’s daughter made me really value quality writing, and gave me the tools to understand the way we write.
Unfortunately, a lifetime of watching medical dramas that don’t parallel the reality of healthcare have left me wanting…. Wanting to make writing about medicine, and healthcare workers, better.
Basically, what I’m saying is, I’m here for a consult.
I started the ScriptMedic blog over on Tumblr, where I picked up over 4,000 followers in the first 3 months alone. I’ve answered over a thousand questions from writers just like you.
So sign up. Sign up for the email list. I’m offering a free ebook very soon to writers just like you to help them improve their stories, whether that’s writing better injuries, understanding blood loss, or the fact that the word “shock” really doesn’t mean what you think it means.
